The correct radius and hardening on the rocker arm pads IS part of a good valve job. If you get it wrong, the valve stems are going to get beat up or side-loaded or worse. Buy the fixture or get someone to do it. Imagine that part opening the valve with 135# of force applied at the stem 180,000 times per hour on a lunch time ride.
